Axfood gets on the road with Omnia

A new Microsoft 365- and Omnia-based intranet has given 13,000 employees at Axfood Group access to a much-improved collaboration and communication platform. The modernized intranet provides enhanced accessibility and findability, as well as targeting and social features, boosting relevance, user experience, and engagement.

Local, social, and group-wide communication in one place

Axfood is one of the leading players in food retail in Sweden and a family of different concepts working in collaboration. 4.5 million customers are reached each week, and customer meetings occur through more than 300 Group-owned stores, e-commerce, and over 700 collaborating retailer-owned stores. Axfood has more than 13,000 employees and net sales of just over SEK 80 billion.

When Axfood decided to upgrade its intranet, it wanted a platform that smoothly integrates Microsoft 365 and can host the Group's common intranet and the subsidiaries' separate intranets. Also on the spec list were advanced features for targeting, collaboration, personalization, and social interaction, all of which Omnia is well equipped with.

The new Omnia-based platform incorporates intranets for Axfood’s subsidiaries Tempo, Hemköp, Willys, Dagab, and Snabbgross. The solution is seamlessly integrated with Microsoft 365 and includes provisioning templates to orchestrate internal collaborations.

Local, chain-specific, or group-wide news and events are shown on the Group’s and subsidiaries’ home pages. Employees can also take part in posts and tweets about Axfood on social media, as well as press releases and sales reports, on the Group’s and subsidiaries’ pages.

Great mobile experience keeps everyone connected

“The solution also supports distributing critical information, such as product alerts and operational information, to users’ notification panels. Furthermore, Axfood’s intranet is adapted to provide a great mobile experience and is accessible to all employees in the Group, via any internet-connected device. Now the intranet is everywhere, even on the road”, says Project Manager Sara Jönsson-Sandgren from Omnia and continues:
